SKYFOLD

Skyfold marks Shape's biggest project to date: the largest singular residence we've worked on (approx. 800m²) on the largest plot of land (8,000m²) — and filled with our boldest ideas yet.

Perched on a ridge along Point View Drive, Skyfold sits at the intersection of civic and rural, offering sweeping views of Auckland’s skyline, including the Sky Tower and Rangitoto. The name Skyfold reflects the way the architecture and cityscape fold into each other — a poetic concept that also, frankly, just sounded right after exhausting all of ChatGPT’s suggestions!

This home was thoughtfully developed over three months, with rigorous design testing to ensure the architecture, site, and landscape harmonized as one. The U-shaped layout provides distinct wings for our clients and their parents, with a central shared courtyard that offers shelter from rain and wind — a place for the whole family to gather, enjoy time together, and relax by the pool.

A dramatic double-height living area anchors the home, featuring a central fireplace and expansive glazing that frames Auckland’s cityscape as a living backdrop.
